The Prisoner is an illustration of the predicament of the human condition in the person of Yego Mwamba. As a child,he was confused about what was right and what was wrong whenever he was in the presence of authority.Fear became his shield against punishment. As he grew up into a young adult,he was unable to see the layers between truth and deception in relationships, thus becoming a prisoner of his own naivety. Yego contracts HIV Aids because he was uncaring, doing what everyone of his class did,he is accused of accepting a bribe in the most unbelievable circumstances, but is unable to push his case and fight for himself, so he end up in prison, a prisoner unable to save himself. His efforts to ask for clemency because of his health condition do not pay off, so he serves the full term of five years, coming out aged and weak. Fortunately, not all is lost. He meets another HIV infected woman......and life seems to offer him yet another chance. The Prisoner is an interesting read..
