Our Statement of belief
Promoting and creating an active reading culture, in the school and community settings, is a collective responsibility, because we all have a vested interest in our development. The perception that a developed society is measured by the development of its publishing industry underlines the fact that, a society which does not organically generate and disseminate its own ideas, but only consumes those of others, will inevitably also be culturally, technologically and spiritually dependent on others and easily driven. The current global context is continually influenced by information, freely accessed through the internet. Information dependency is a risky situation for a developing country, because information power drives the world politically, economically, technologically and socially. A knowledgeable, reading society, with a dynamic culture of reading and buying books, generating new organic ideas, is a necessary foundation for effective, homegrown development interventions which can result in real human progress.
